Fitness FAQ

FAQ for Pole Fitness classes

What should I wear?
When first starting we recommend that you arrive in comfortable clothing that you would normally wear to the gym. Ensure that your top has a full back to make sliding on the pole easier. Classes are done in both runners and socks. Runners which are flexible are best.

As you advance through the levels, should you choose, heels can be worn. Skin is required for grip so shorts and razor back tops allow for the most skin exposure while still being comfortable to wear.

Is any clothing removed?
No. The purpose of the pole fitness classes is to improve your coordination, flexibility, and strength while having fun and losing weight. Should you wish to learn the art of the striptease, we offer full instruction through our Fantasy program.

I am not that strong, is this the class for me?
Of course! Our instructors work with women of all different fitness levels. Moves are shown so that women of all different strength levels are able to do the moves. The fitness classes are designed for that very thing – to improve your overall strength and fitness.

I am a larger woman, is this class for me?
Of course! Women come in all different shapes and sizes. Our instructors demonstrate the moves so women of all different shapes and sizes can participate.

I just want to try it out for a class, is there an option for me?
Yes. We offer a one-hour intro class called “Test the Waters” so you can try your hand at pole dancing. You will experience a variety of floor and pole work while also focusing on stretching and strengthening.

Might I bruise and get pole burn? What causes it?
You bet! But as you progress through the classes, the bruising and pole burn will become less and less. Bruising and pole burn is generally caused by lack of body strength. The arms are not strong enough to support the body weight so the legs overcompensate by gripping the pole too tightly. Alternatively, the hands grip the pole too tightly allowing the lower body to spin but the lead hand stops, this will result in pole burn of the wrists and arms. As your strength and technique begins to improve your bruising and pole burn becomes less and less.

I have to miss a class, can I make it up?
The programming is currently set-out in four or five-week series. Unfortunately, if you miss a class, the schedule is not designed so that you can make it up.

What is a PAR-Q? Why do I have to fill it out?
A Par-Q is a fitness questionnaire designed to ensure that you are in good health and able to safely undertake pole fitness classes. The questions asked help to identify any concerns you may have about your health and then how we can best ensure you get the most out of your pole fitness program.

Can men attend the classes?
No. The current set of classes are for female particpants only. Men are welcome to drop off and pick up. We just ask they don’t linger.

Will I have my own pole?
Classes are booked to a maximum of two people to a pole. So, some classes you may have to share and some classes you will have the pole to yourself.
